Description:

In this project, conditions and explanations for negative effects of digitally projected slides in presentations (e. g. using PowerPoint) on learners’ acquisition of knowledge about certain kinds of information are investigated. Learners watch the video of a presentation. Variants of projected slides and learning behaviour are manipulated experimentally. The variables measured include the learners’ cognitive processing and knowledge acquisition. Thereby it becomes feasible to decide between competing explanations for negative effects of digitally projected slides on knowledge acquisition and to develop potential instructional cures.
