The RiskLab is a research unit at the chair of social psychology, department of psychology, Ludwig Maximilian University Munich. We are investigating human perception of risk and influences on risk taking behavior.
Humans seem to actively search for risks as the popularity of extreme sport shows. At the same time, due to cognitive biases, people have great difficulties with judging risks correctly. The financial crisis has shown the severe the consequences of poor risk assessment of an individual for the society. In our research we focus on cognitive and behavioral influences on risk perception and behvaior in risky situations. Based on our findings we aim at developing training instruments to improve decision making and leading in risky situations.
We are interested in collaborations with organizations and offer research on subjective risk perception in all kinds of situations (e.g. economy, sport, traffic).
