The present study aims at investigating reasons for non-cooperative behavior in social situations where cooperation is definitely beneficial to the individual and not only in the case eve-rybody cooperates. A motivational approach is taken to explain this, which is rooted in the system theoretic approach of the Züricher Modell of Social Motivation. Change in current value of perceived power is shown to predict contribution in a repeated economic decision making scenario consisting of a Public Good Game.
