Prof. Moritz Heene

Prof. Moritz Heene

Director of the "Doctoral Training Program in the Learning Sciences"
Assistant Director of the "Psychology Master's Program in the Learning Sciences"

Responsibilities

Prof. Moritz Heene’s research interests concern the research methodologies. Although his research focus has been on statistical issues, this should not obscure the fact that fundamentally, his analysis deals with the issue of how much particular scientific statements can (or can not) be obtained from the statistical techniques usually applied in psychology.

Completed and ongoing research of his includes:
• Statistical simulation studies: Assessing the performance of model tests and goodness-of-fit indices in structural equation modeling and Rasch models
• Quantitative genetics: Bias in heritability estimates when certain assumptions about genetic architectures are violated
• Foundations of multigroup structural equation modeling
• Logic of measurement and additive conjoint measurement

Open Science and my commitment to research transparency

I embrace the values of openness and transparency in science. I believe that such research practices increase the informational value and impact of our research, as the data can be reanalyzed and synthesized in future studies. Furthermore, they increase the credibility of the results, as an independent verification and replication is possible.

For this reason, I signed the Commitment to Research Transparency
